I have yet to start stabilizing, but I can here to research how it is done.  While doing so I noticed that they also sell Alumilite.  What convinced me to purchase here vice the Alumilite web store was the smaller options available.  I was not ready to shell out the $160 for the 16 lb kit (was not sure I was ready to switch over) and I knew the 2lb kit was not enough.  The Alumilite web store does not offer any other sizes, but TurnTex has a 8lb kit that was perfect for my needs and well within my budget.  I was also able to grab dye for the same price.  Shipping was quick, and would have arrived within 2 days had the UPS driver actually delivered it Saturday when it was out for delivery and never arrived (redelivered on Monday).  Will certainly reorder again!!

I have been very happy with the service supplied by Turn Tex.  They were most helpful before I even ordered anything and gave great advice and recommendations.  I purchased a good setup to stabilize knife blanks.  When I had questions with set up,  I was able to get help from them.  Additionally, I found out the lead wire coming from their controller would not stand a 400 degree temp [way beyond that recommended to cure the Cactus Juice reason] I contacted Curtis thinking he might suggest where I could look for a heat resistant wire.  He indicated they had just gone to a wire that would withstand 600 degrees and would send me one, no charge.

I have purchased products from TurnTex for several years now.  I have never had any issue with placing and order or shipping.  My orders arrive quickly

and in excellent condition.  Anytime I have had questions, they were answered quickly and thoroughly.  If you need assistance they are always there.

I have tried other stabilizing products and I have not had any that do a better job or turn out better.   I have breathing issues and the Cactus Juice does not affect me in any manner.

No strong odor and water clean up, you just can't get any better than the products and service provided by TurnTex.  That is years of experience.

I received my order on time and I have not used the castus juice yet. The  Alumilite is fun and exciting to cast. There were no surprises with my order. Everything was as described on your web site. Your instructions and suggestions for use have been very helpful. This is my first experience with a vacuum pump. I will do all of my stabilizing with cactus juice from now on. I have been woodworking and wood turning for over 60 years. When I tell that I am stabilizing with cactus juice people grin and ask "what is that?" I grin back and say "I have no idea, but I don't think it comes from a cactus". I find your web site a bit user unfriendly, but that may just be me and my 74+ years on planet earth. Thank you for very timely delivery of the products that I ordered. I currently make knives, turn pens, duck calls, and other fun projects. I live in East Texas, lived in San Antonio about 25 years ago....loved South Texas.

I had an issue with the Cactus Juice activator. The seal was tight with pressure and when removed I lost about half of the contents. Curtis replaced the activator at no cost even though I should have been more careful when opening it.

Turntex is a classic example of what all companies should strive for in customer service.

just started stabilizing wood, so ordering cactus juice was a must! Went through about half of the gallon the first few days, might have gotten stab-happy. But I love this stuff, it’s awesome, works like a charm, it’s easy to clean up. I’ve been able to make some pretty sweet knife handles out of what once was punky wood. Thanks turnte!

My order had a delay in shipping due to unforeseen events; Curtis recognized that there was a potential issue before the package was to arrive; he offered multiple solutions that included over-night shipping to ensure that I remained a satisfied customer.  Though I did not opt for this, he did ultimately re-shipped and accepted the burden of tracking the original package.  Bottom line- Curtis is as good as the products that he sells- 

Have gotten 2 shipments of Cactus Juice Resin and dyes, and have been really happy with everything so far!  Definitely will be a repeat customer.

I have been dealing with Turntex for a while now and they always impress. With my latest order I ordered on a Wednesday afternoon and it was here in Canada by Friday!!!

I just recently finished my first batch of stabilized material. Some of it was redwood burl, pine cone and some unknown species that had beautiful grain in it. I left it under vacuum for about four hours and then overnight after releasing the vacuum. The material came out very nice and i am looking forward to frying different materials.

I also nave a pressure pot which I intend to use to put the material under pressure to further drive the cactus juice deeper into the material. I am going to purchase some casting resin to further experiment with.

 

I recently purchased an Oven Tamer II.  It is well made and works as advertised.  It took a few minutes for the auto tuning function to tune the Oven Tamer to my oven, but once that was done it is quick and simple to use.  Most often, I just press the on/off switch, and the oven starts to heat up to last temperature setting that was used.  Generally, that's 180 degrees.  If I need to use a different temperature, just a few button clicks is all it takes.  It's interesting to see and hear to oven be cycled on and off every few seconds as the Oven Tamer keeps the temperature within a degree or so of the set temperature.  

I've not used the timer function yet, so I cannot comment on it yet. However, for only a few dollars more, I think it is worth having the ability to set the oven to turn off automatically after a set time.  So far, I've not needed to run errands while I'm cooking something, so I've preferred to manually turn the oven off.  But, I like knowing I can put something in the oven at 9 pm and not have to stay up until it has finished cooking!

I ordered parts to make my own vacuum chamber (going to use a stainless steel asparagus steamer),  and everything was shipped quickly. My order was complete and all the parts are excellent quality. Thanks Curtis!

If you have not tried the news dyes, well they are very awesome!

I received the 4" version of the infusion tube four days ago. Before first use, I hooked the tube to my vacuum pump and tested for any leaks.  I was able to pull maximum vacuum for the pump without a problem. When the tube was isolated from the pump, the tube held the vacuum for a couple of minutes with no sign of vacuum loss.  I then ran a test run infusing a couple of pieces of wood. The tube performed flawlessly.  Outstanding quality throughout.

Cactus juice is always Great! Fast shipping and great customer service!

The cactus juice came highly recommended by many many people. All of which do small turning (pens, bottle stoppers, etc).  The IAP website and local chapter people also highly recommended it.  

 

I have to say for never having used this and never having done stabilizing before, the cactus juice was awesome to work with. It was easy to activate, easy to use, very low odor (maybe a little sweet smelling), and cured as advertised. 

Within a few hours I went from junk rotted red box elder to finished hydrid alumilite and stabilized blanks. The best part was I can reuse the left overs until I run out. 

I would suggest some cheap disposable filters for collecting the left overs as inherently you will have dust or wood fibers from junk wood end up in the left over cactus juice. I used the paint gun cone filters from harbor freight because they are super cheap and easy to use. 

Love this stuff and highly recommend to anyone. 

Curtis has been doing what he does for a good long while.  Through trial and error he has found the way that stabilization works best.  The equipment he builds is top notch and nothing carrying his name is ever going to leave his shop if it isn't first rate quality.  My first order with him was for a gallon of Cactus Juice, a 4" vacuum chamber, Oven Tamer, and an assortment of dies.  All I had to do was supply my own vacuum pump.  Everything he says Cactus Juice will do is gospel.  I have some burl that I want to use for knife scales but it is way too soft.  Cactus Juice sure fixed that problem.  The Oven Tamer blew my mind as I watched it work the toaster oven flawlessly.  It never allows the oven to stray more than .2 degrees from your desired set temperature.  I will be using the oven tamer for tempering knife blades in the future.  You can't go wrong with quality products and service backed by a man who still believes a man's spoken word is stronger than words on a paper.  Call me a new customer for life.

I completed my Stabilizing setup with one of the recommended vacuum pumps and I'm glad I did.  Turntex.com website is a gold mine of information and how-to's.

Cactus Juice and dyes are also quality products easy to use and cleanup. The Estimator-Calculator, on the website, gives a very close approximation of Cactus Juice usage.

Overall, Turntex is a great company to deal with; products, information, responsiveness, shipping, everything is first class.

I am new to this method of pen making. I have been watching a lot of utube videos on this and decided to give it a try. Everyone noted how well this TurnTex worked. Well I decided to order some Alumilite. I ordered the 8 oz size clear on-line. I was happily surprised when my ordered arrived at my home 2. Days later!!!!!! Great product and great company to work with. I will be ordering more in the near future. Thank you TurnTex.

Curtis spent 30 to 45 minutes on the phone with me discussing issues ideas having.  Low and behold his suggestions were the fix.  New order of cactus juice. Since mine had gone bad, an over thermometer, and some extra steps I was not doing correctly, and I'm back to stabilizing.  Turntex has customer service that is second to none.  I will continue to use him for cactus juice as well as for alumilite.
